Data Protection

To enable Protego to identify you when you log on to the website, to allow Protego to deal with your enquiry quickly and efficiently and to keep you updated as to any developments, Protego may require the following information: your full name, address, telephone number, email address, occupation. These are your personal identification details "PI details". LEP confirms that all information collected on this website is obtained in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. It is important that you keep Protego updated as to any changes in your PI details to ensure that the records maintained by Protego are correct.

User Logon

As soon as you subscribe to the Protego Website you will be given an individual user logon and password. You will require these details each time you sign-in to the member's area. You will then be able to submit insurance applications or enquiries. It is imperative that your logon details are kept secure and you should not reveal them to any third party. Protego will never request your logon details via email and if you receive any emails asking you for such details, you should contact Protego immediately on 0845 855 0232.

Regulation of Personal Identification Details
Protego is the data controller of your PI details and will use your PI details, to improve customer services, to keep you updated as to important changes to the Website, to provide you with information about new services and products, statistical analysis, marketing, security vetting, profiling your preferences. Protego will disclose your information to its service providers and agents for these purposes but only information that is relevant will be disclosed and the third parties will maintain the privacy of the information provided to them. If Protego provides third parties with statistics in relation to matters such as sales or access to the Website, this information will not include any PI details.
Your personal identification details will only be exchanged with other third parties, such as our business associates, with your permission. It may be necessary to provide your PI details to these parties to enable us to process your application, or to enable Protego to make decisions on insurance proposals, credit references and financial risk assessments. If it is necessary for Protego to provide your PI details to any third party Protego will only do so if the third party confirms that they will only use them for the specified purpose and will keep your details private. Please be aware, however, that in certain circumstances Protego may be obliged by law to disclose your PI details without your permission for example to comply with money laundering regulations and to prevent fraud.
Occasionally, Protego may need to request information from you, or another party to your application, such as your membership status with a trade union, trade association or other relevant organisation, but will only do so if it is essential to process your application. If you are asked to provide such information about another party, you must first obtain their consent before disclosing such information to Protego.

Protego may use your PI details to contact you either by post or telephone for marketing purposes, unless you specifically advise Protego that you do not consent to the use of your PI details for this purpose. Protego may use your PI details to contact you by electronic means such as email and fax, but only with your consent.

Cookies

Cookies are small amounts of information which we store on your computer. Unless you have indicated your objection when disclosing your details to us, our system will issue cookies to your computer when you log on to the Website. Cookies make it easier for you to log on to and use the site during future visits. They allow us to monitor website traffic, to personalise the content of the site for you and to enable information that you enter to be carried across pages to avoid you having to re-enter the information.
'Web beacons' which enable us to count the number of people accessing the Website may also be used by Protego and third party advertisers. Protego have implemented a number of security measures to protect your information from misuse and access by unauthorised persons. The padlock symbol may not always appear but this does not mean that the Website's security has been compromised.

Any changes to our privacy policy in the future will be posted on this Website and, if any material changes are made, a legal notice will be placed on the home page or, where appropriate, you will be notified through email.
